(1) WORLD AIDS DAY NEWS - 2006

Light To Unite Project - Through the generosity of Bristol-Myers Squibb, your students can access this site and "light a candle" which results in a $1 donation to the National AIDS Fund. Lots of facts and information is available, as well as stories about those infected with HIV.

World AIDS Clock - Classroom exercise: Use the first figure and ask your students to time the clock for one minute. They will then know how many new AIDS cases there were in the world during the last minute. Then, ask them to figure out how many new cases there are each day, week, month, year. The second figure on the clock indicates the number of people worldwide who die of AIDS each minute. Use this figure to compute statistics for a day, a week, a month and a year.
