Our Programs

Social Health Association offers a variety of health education programs to students in Central Indiana schools. SHA teachers are trained to instruct in grades K-12, however most programming takes place in grades 4-8.

Our program focus areas are:

  • Human Growth and Development (Puberty)
  • Disease Prevention (HIV/AIDS and other STDs)
  • Life Skills, with special emphasis on prevention of bullying

All SHA classes are taught by degreed teachers with many years of classroom experience. Our programs are reviewed for alignment with the Indiana Academic Standards for Health Education, as passed by the Board of the Indiana Department of Education. Alignment with these Standards insures student needs in health are met, and schools have a program partner which works to help them meet their instructional goals. Along with classroom instruction, SHA educators conduct numerous information programs for parents on topics related to children and health. Staff members are also available to conduct presentations at educational workshops for school professionals.
