Parents & Trusted Adults

Social Health Association of Indiana is committed to providing parents and other trusted adults, who are key influencers in raising children, with the resources and support they need to communicate effectively with children about health issues and personal decision making.  Kids need their parents and families to teach them values.  Social Health Association can enhance a youth’s education by providing medically accurate, age-appropriate health education.

Available through the online portal, Social Health Association provides parents and guardians/trusted adults with an overview of what is taught in our 45-75 minute Human Growth & Development programs for grades 4, 5 and 6.  For grade 7, an overview of the eight session Making A Difference! program is also provided.  In addition to the overview, parents can watch the videos that will be shown in their children’s classrooms.  Tips for how to talk to children about sensitive topics like puberty are also provided on our website.  Click here to see a description of the program objectives.

All SHA programs are taught by professional Health Educators and include videos for grades 4 and 5.  (There is no 6th grade video). Parents and guardians can access and view the videos in the Parent Portal.  Please enter the password provided by your school in your parent consent letter to access the videos in the Portal.  There is a transcript in Spanish and one in Burmese of every class overview and video in the parent portal.

To address any questions or comments about the curriculum after watching the videos and webinars, please do not hesitate to contact Social Health Association’s Director of Programs and Evaluation at (317) 638-3628.
